It’s back, Pumpkin Spice, but what is it actually?

Seems Pumpkin Spice was popularised in 2003 by Starbucks USA with their creation of the Pumpkin Spice Latte.  Since then, clever marketing and over saturation has created a hype for the flavour.  Most commonly associated with “the fall” or Autumn as we know it, it’s sold in our hemisphere in Spring.

But what is actually?  Pumpkin in my coffee sounds weird!?

The ingredients that make up Pumpkin Spice are cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger, commonly found in the recipe of Pumpkin Pie which is where the name comes from.

Is it any good?

Personally I have never tried it.  The hype around it seems to center around the USA and you’ll be lucky yo hear anyone in our part of the planet rushing to grab their PSL come the start of spring.  Still it is available at Starbucks of which you will find stores in the bigger towns around the country or you can click here to see a list of stores.

Be sure to share your experience in the comments if you do try it, I’ll stick to my Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino on my next visit to Starbucks.
